After waking up too early this morning I was in the mood to color. This week's challenges aided me in that quest...
I decided to combine all three of my favorite challenges- CC253, SC263, and IC 215
CC was for Pretty in Pink, Chocolate chip and Elegant Eggplant. The sketch was fabulous, and the inspiration challenge Nell Hills left me inspired. I chose this book cover, as I was craving as much color as possible... It must be because it has been so cold and dreary here lately. I like the way this turned out, and I had a lot of fun making it.

Here are more pictures of it.
This is the front view... I used Stampin up's In full bloom, a great set! I also used my A2 embossing folder for the houndstooth. I wasn't sure about this at first, but I like the way it combined with the flowers. I used Chocolate chip as my base card, I layered the embossed eggplant over it and used pretty in pink behind my image. The strip on the bottom is both eggplant and pink, both embossed in Houndstooth. I also used my new favorite technique which I learned in the copics class I attended- I colored my ribbon and eyelets with my markers to get an exact match in colors. I love doing that. The ribbon was a pale pink that I colored dark brown, and the eyelets were a pea green that I colored purple. The friends was stamped in Cornish Heritage Farms scripty words.

To make the main image I used the masking technique, I stamped the main center flower and then masked it to stamp the smaller purple flowers. I also stamped first in scratch paper to make the purple flowers lighter. I then stamped the leaves. Image was colored with my copics, I just mixed together a bunch of pinks and purples. The one bit I like is, I outlined the image in yellow 11 instead of a gray. I think it adds dimension but is also brighter than the gray and I wanted bright, like they were lit from behind. I think I achieved this. I also popped the main image up on dimensionals. I just used a thick piece of cardboard behind it.

This is the inside view of the card. I just stamped in Pretty in pink and eggplant. Stamping images on top of each other for the 3-d look

Well, this was my first official post and I hope you liked it.

  1. Ahhhh!! So gorgeous Lou!! I'm so excited for you, how far you've come in your coloring and the fantastic card and challenge combo! What a wonderful post too, loved reading all about your thought process and technique!! I'm just now sitting down to stamp -- this waiting until the weekend to do chores sure puts a dent in stamping time!! LOL!! Have a fun stamping weekend!! TIP -- do challenges from other stamp companies with blogs and their DTs will come visit your blog to see what you did!! You'll get a lot of traffic that way!! :)

  2. Great cazrd. The coloring is phenomenal! That stampset is my all time favorite from SU. I will never say goodbye to that set.
anne is so right about getting your numbers up there. I found the best was SCS, go do their teapot tuesdays and post asap. I got alot of posts on my pics at SCS and my numbers defintely increased on my blog. I'm not trying to sell you any "goods" but I did find you over at SCS and came right over here from there. But go see (here's where you might think that I am selling you the "goods") my card that was posted two below you on the thread. I'm number 92 and you're number 90. Then go to my gallery and look at MMPTP76 and see how many comments the gang left behind. compared to most of mine that is a lot. I can only assume that the TT gang goes and checks out all of the other challengers that week. adctd2stamping
